blackwork motif ornaments for lisa t.r.

after a futzy beginning, i got better at working motifs rather than just borders in blackwork. i have been using backstitch rather than double-running stitch aka holbein stitch. if there's away to make these motifs reversible, i am sure i do not know it.

the ornaments you are seeing here actually number three, but are double-sided. they are all from historical charts (even the one that is very obviously a female reproductive system, which is an extra-good gift for this particular friend, and now keeping in line with a theme, as she received a uterus last year from me.)

i am sending these to her rather early. they are not overly christmasy, but she might want to find a way to use them now. there's little more disappointing than getting a holiday decor-type gift on the 25th and having to put it away for a year.
