Bedtime Bear For Tamsin's Baby

okay. it's dearer than i possibly could have imagined.

when i finished the bear itself, ben came in the door from work, and i held it out to him. it was a good sign (for the bear, anyway), that ben kissed the bear before he even kissed me. and of course, his first words were: "i want one."

indeed.

now the bear has a little nightcap and slippers, and a nightshirt made from painted "disco" sock yarn. the flecks of silver are like little night stars. i made no real attempt to match the gauge of the bear to the pattern in debbie bliss' teddy bears, and when it came to fit the clothes, i was able to use all sorts of different bits from stash. the outfits were easy to re-vamp using seventh grade math. it worked!

he's terribly, terribly sweet. as soon as his head started looking like a head, i went from never ever wanting to make a bear again to wanting to make a phalanx of them. i hope this one is well loved.
