now here i was "closing in" on my holiday knitting. saying to myself, hey, i'm moving in the right direction! all it takes is not adding new projects to the list, and i actually move forward!
then, in the middle of the night, i got this idea in my head for a cat toy.

in our house, a "toukie" is any animal-like effigy designed for cat play. (yes, we also use the word as a euphemism, as in "i am freezing my toukies off.") but a toukie can come in many forms. this one evokes the six-toed cats cared for by ernest hemingway in key west, florida. gibson finds his very snuggly. i have also made some for shuler and zooey. i know that cats everywhere will be clamoring, next year at this time, to see toukie 2004 in its debut!
