my record remains unblemished! on thanksgiving, all i will EVER remember to do is take pictures of yet-unused plates and cutlery!
more than anything i think these were photos of the flowers, which i really liked. the sticks, rosehips, and millet particularly. please note the very sated dog in the background. she has eaten almost the entire circulatory and respiratory systems of a turkey.
but if i HAD taken pictures, it's not as though they would have gotten a lot more lively than this. my dad and ben and i ate on the couch; we watched an "american chopper" marathon and a lot of "mystery science theatre 3000" shorts; and we kept eating. there was food. real food. not just empty plates. (i really liked the flowers. they almost made me like the wallpaper.)
meanwhile, 45 minutes away, mom and stan and tom and meg did more or less the same thing, but at a table. they are the classier side of the family.
stan reminds me so much of paul teutel sr. on "american chopper" it was almost like he was here. we watched a LOT of "american chopper". love it!
hope everyone had a good one!
we did have guests over for thanksgiving... i know they were here... i saw their cups and glasses and forks and whatnot. one of them made mashed potatoes when he got here. the other one started speaking in swedish around eight pm and had a practically conjugal visit with our cat.
this was possibly the least stressful thanksgiving i have ever had. we went to bed at a normal time, and with a spotless kitchen. i do wish i'd taken a few pictures other than these...
seems i never get tired of taking this picture every year. same picture. different berries.
we make extra cranberry sauce every year (it's very good), to put in ball jars and send around to homes where we are welcomed for thanksgiving, but where our decision to have our own at home is met with respect and maturity, and an absolute absence of emotional blackmail.
uh-oh! looks like a lot of leftovers again!
maybe i'll just yell out the window for a few crack addicts to come get some. they love the stuff.
making cranberry sauce to go to four different dinners. (when you aren't able to make it in person, let cranberry sauce stand in for you.)
how cute are these? tiny indian corn cobs made from beads, raffia, pipecleaner, that will be used to decorate the famous cranberry sauce (andy freedman's recipe) that we are taking to everyone's house this year on our nomadic thanksgiving travels.
