we were so toxified by christmas food that we didn't actually get it together until tonight, new year's eve, to have our latka/mushroom soup/caviar dinner! frankly, we haven't stopped eating since thanksgiving and ben got his cholesterol done yesterday -- i can't wait to hear the result of that.

last night we had vietnamese food with friends up near their home in lansdowne, and then visited the new h-mart korean grocery up in that neighborhood. we went back to h-mart today after going to the gym, and then had lunch at sitar india in university city -- then back into town for caviar, creme fraiche, a trip into di bruno's, and a quick run to the liquor store. at that point, we were in for the day. and night. and year! will it be a continuation of the monty python's flying circus marathon? will we break out the entire series of american gothic on DVD? who knows? but tomorrow, we will be industrious. anywhere one turns in this place, there's hardly any choice about that.

we have big plans for 2006 and will really hit the ground running, as so many of them are already grinding into action. this year is going to bring a lot of changes -- preparatory changes -- and the culmination or near-culmination of some BIG projects, as well as the starting of a few new ones. it's going to be a busy year, full of work. we are very much looking forward to every step of the process. well, not the one where they tear the staircase out and we can't get up to the second floor. that one leaves me panic-stricken. but the rest of it will be good, albeit nose-to-the-grindstone.
